Il Posto Trattoria - amazing Italian in wine country

I was in Napa Valley for Mother's Day. We noticed that this restaurant next to our hotel was full of locals so we decided to have lunch there. There are a lot of good Italian restaurants in Los Angeles, but nothing came quite close to this new restaurant in Napa.

The gnocchi was the most amazing gnocchi I have ever tasted. Light broth with salty pork and pan fried gnocchi. I am quite used to gnocchi in creamy sauce but this version is so refreshing and perfectly balanced. You just can't help but keep eating it.

The Mother's Day special pizza was another thing that I have never experienced. It's a egg's benedict pizza with salty pork. Having an egg on top of the pizza is getting pretty common these days. The special thing was how they foamed the cheese into very fine foam (not gross big bubbles). The result was a very light cheese that allows the taste of the sweet pizza dough to come through to balance out the salty pork. Simply amazing!

The meatball spaghetti was quite good and appetizing with the marina sauce, but it was kinda meh when compared to the pizza and gnocchi.

I didn't try the seafood fettuccine but it was very good value with the big shrimp :P

The zeppole (Italian donut) with spicy chocolate sauce was interesting but could not compete with the other two desserts.

The panna cotta was ulta smooth with extra flavor of vanilla beans. People finished this very quickly.

The tiramisu with dark chocolate was excellent. It could use more wine but the dark chocolate was great already.

My family was extremely pleased with this food. I highly recommend this place if you are going to visit Napa Valley.
